I am sauntering down my lane and around the curve, unexpectedly to me but fully in the moment of slanted elongated shades of early eve, sun sizzling as it touches the cold earth, is Bessy...with a slow swing of her wide hairy hips and hardly a glance my way, udder swaying fully under her belly. silently with her jaws own working, she meanders on since the lanes way is wire girde. does she wonder if it is to keep the noisy petro fed pinned in and at bay. it does tend to keep the wheeled rolling beasts properly healed. then there is me; am I in or out? yet she us not black or white, just a simple soft brown. where is the belonging? the herd?

she really no longer notices, the noticing is not needed.

another day when my landfill fairies where not to be had! dang! so now to plan heavy power cords, reciprocating saw and stuff so i can just cut things into chica carrying sized pieces and haul off myself. oh triple dog dang! my apologies to all good dogs. my baby tractor (riding mower) dangles in wait for my big brother's friday arrival so i don't get all squishi-ed trying to recover it from the slid out ramp (hey but that little soil slip was worth having my microforest and mini meadow watered at the heaven's gratefully opening). dangle the baby tractor must cause i also promised my dad I'd wait for assistance. tomorrow as I await the rains and brother, I'll clear the trailer of previous load and then build bed frame for my soon to arrive bro guest.

so without much of a digital or phone signal functioning and being pretty much done for the day, it's time to decide between my freshly arrived video series and solos...hmmm...planet of the apes, terminator, logan's run, westworld, riddick, I am legend, the book of eli, v for vendetta, or the dark crystal. this list probably reveals way too much about me. I have to admit besides being on sale super cheap there seems to be a pattern here. the books are ultimately better but I am a sucker for sci-fi, end of the world survival stuff even in the form of these silly movies.

besides I've never had a video collection before and had to start somewhere so sci-fi end of the world as we know it seemed the place to start. next set will include my other loves--chitty chitty bang bang and similar child like fantasies.

between my crap, BOXer and installing artists' remains, tis a lot of refuse to be hauled off. so today some sit and wait for Santa, others wait to see the consumer index, some for baby Jesus, and I await the landfill fairy for hire crew. oh how I hope they show up! at least my waste stream isn't generated directly by me since I temporarily divert your waste stream into art and this is simply the leftovers. so I am trying not to feel so badly about this waste. though the landfill fairies have assured me that the three loads are needed because rubber and wood go to recycling thus less to the ten active mountains of landfills that feed off Houston. the upper pile is headed to the pulping place, the other to all things rubber!

getting nervous as to that my fairies have not arrived and I am on tight schedule. oh well for planning.

untended since July, I've gotten one last harvest from my planter boxes. need to get my boxes up here to plant next crop. the boxes would seem unnecessary, but do far everything I've planted has been dug up at the roots and tossed aside to wither by the armadillos and the Bambi's have been hungry enough to eat a few deer resistant plants I tried.

much paler version of what I put in bathroom--meaning it reflects more light. no, no, it's not BOX 13, 1948 hospital, green!! it has a smidge of gray in it. I have lots of light through the day but because of the microforest canopy it changes significantly. it is really interesting to watch the wall colors appear different from hour to hour.

ha. coordinate with bathroom. the dishes bought in 2009; linens in 2011. I hadn't realized I had such color leanings till I got home and noticed my bed linens perfectly matched my plates. funny to me. must be my natural color palette. I'd painted my previous house of 1992 as though I was trying match these plates--mustard and the deep red. so now I'll try green. I am less sure of green but think it will contrast nicely to what I intend for the floor. I liked the baby pooh green I painted earlier this week it just was a bit loud, didn't quite go with other items in casa and had a shine to it made that felt kid's room plasticky to me. this new green may be a bit to somber and gray but I'll give it a try.

to a more sophisticated muted green as in pic below which coordinates both with my bedroom linens and dishes. well because you know how important it is to coordinate with you dishes and linens while eating or sleeping in the tube! a can of paint, one extra roller, and roll of blue tape. I can live with tis green. so from cottage white to vivid baby pooh green to a more grayish green.

I'll live with a bit. put sink stuff back in may down play the screaming happy green. still some touch up to do where green meets cottage white. remind me why we texture walls cause it really makes painting a straight edge tough. I know I know that's why molding but I have none anywhere else so it wouldn't work to stick it in one room. so just tidy edges. contemplated trendy pale muted bluish turquoise but outside of blue jeans it's not in my natural palette. but I may still migrate that way.

it looked happy happy green under home depot lights, mustard yellow by daylight, back to a greenish happy green by night. we'll see. it's only one can. perhaps it functions like a mood ring of the mid seventies I wore in junior high. I tend toward white white but that's a bit sterile. but thinking I'd be smart I chose a cottage white and the painter decided to make my trim white instead of matching my walls. this makes cottage white in contrast to the trim quite yellowish to me (unfortunately however it is my brain is wired, I notice every time I come home. so I thought I'd live on the wild side and add some flashy color in some of my small rooms. they say pick a color you like. well I noticed when I got home with my bed linens that they perfectly matched my dishes. dang I must like these colors--mustard, a kind of bright green just a hint to the olive side, orange, dark rust. you would think since an artist I'd know what I like but I don't. I actually really like bright orange and was tempted to go with it. chickened out as it was to risky and figured then for sure my sister in law wouldn't ever ever come to my house. so no orange. though perhaps the bathroom is small enough (cheap enough) to be a good place to explore color with which to live. well baby poo green is the risk of the week/weak. hope it looks better than the prepped edges. and I am kind of growing fond of blue tape.

I am kind of growing accustom to the paint splattered, plywood subfloor. it's a statement. unfortunately I alone have grown partial to this particular statement. I've got three good sized collaborative artworks i need and am looking forward to getting done over christmas break, hopefully the school holiday will also afford me renovation time as well. mmmm. the wind has just picked up its howling. I really love the woods and my hermitage. ok well try to rake with typical suburban methods is not cutting it. I've got a used riding mower coming my way I think (almost purely a gift) and the hermitage came with a little pull behind leaf sweeper. ha. I tried pulling it by hand yesterday. such an urban girl!!! I won't try that again. but I am making some forward movement on the hermitage. I sold a work last week (oh thank you thank you oh patron one) and its just the right amount for a reading chaise I've been eyeing. back to Houston in the am to meet with some amazing young women, re-peak and measure chaise then a quick return for school stuff.

art speak easily overlays life speak.

also pulling out of context (in this case using in reading art) is the practice of Lectio Divina which is essentially trying to read a text with a life and spiritual openness allowing words that swim to the top or catch one's soul's attention to be reconsidered more mindfully.

so applying a spiritual practice to an art reading the things that jump off the page, screen, into the heart of my day, perhaps causing me pause and ponder:

1. fixity--well not for any deep reason except what an absolutely great bastardized word! I mean especially from the standpoint of being a Texan and all our fixin's. I've got to figure out how to embrace and use fixity in a texas style sentence or simply create a whole exhibition around the word. well after I use bellows--another great word.

2. neither swallows or ejects the other--good goal. yup. concur. I've found binary usually isn't productive life process because it creates an us against them; an I am good, therefore you must be bad, bad, bad, well and you are! so there blah blah. tongue handing out and finger flying metaphorically speaking. you know the drill. it's never good to create us and them camps...pretty much ensures someone must dies or be kicked into exile or fly planes into populated buildings. I suppose I could do my forty years in the desert based on the longevity of the women in my family that'd still give me almost ten years on the other side. though I generally prefer green so nix the forty and I don't want spring to just return to my step as I am turning ninety. so nix the forty; nix the desert; nix the exile; nix the camps; nix the binary.

3. image comes to mind is a web--oh crap. will I be caught, coated in the sick stickies and then eaten alive. eeek. nix that.

4. separate themselves from the rise of repressive totalitarian systems--again, good goal. but then "separate themselves" does bump right back into the binary of us and them, good and bad. ok well I do happen to think repressive and totalitarian are not the greatest of behaviors or systems to be a part of or ruled by--bad for all parties involved. so see there you go with me saying, us, them, bad, bad...guess I need to go fixitying up my binary thinking and attitudes.

so much for Lectio Divina. don't think my ramblings were stumbling much into the divine.

I've never seen fungus spring up so quickly and vividly. little moisture and rot really begins. the drought dedicated limbs creak and moan with the surface moisture that clings. there is the snort. focused on the fungus I didn't notice the deer fifty feet away--holding still waiting for me to go away. I guess I've deluded the male with his threatening snort because I've gone back to the porch so they can feed. and so they do and so close.

blinking noise making tool = bad bad no touch! tool just sitting there unstimulated = good,though one must check to confirm it is actual toggled to ON!! all this just to ensure that yes you turned off the breaker; yes the switch is off and yes you can touch it now. this little tool gizmo = house warming gift from my dad! shocking but handy! (sorry i could not help myself--junior high humor not a new problem--it's just how am wired. OMG)

now install last blue box (unsquare box that is); daisy chain via twisty tying my electrical wires (according to code), check adhesive test sample for new drafting table surface (trying shower pan glue since rubbery self healing drafting surface seems shower panish--hope it works. if so, pick up some more to cover the 3x6 foot surface. then test one light deinstall, slam up special cut Sheetrock, tape, float, add silly texture so matches rest of wall, dry, paint, final twisty tie light install. shazam!!! now vent, flooring and sink plumbing! yea ha. oh yes play grading and crazy crit prep. ok ok. no not all today.

blue tape marking studs to find later when Sheetrock hides their anchoring grain away, blue boxes (one more to go) to ensure code compliance, blue sky while porching it under the daylight's celestial vaulted canopy with my dad, the blue glint off my new galvanized ceiling fan installed, again blue glint off the blur of the chain turning saw my dad wields. blue. all this blue gives the illusion of leaps and bounds forward on the hermitage home front. reality is it moves forward beyond slow, it yawns like an open cavern of dreams yet to be lived. i am slow to move, slow to rise and I sit at its edge and hear the deer graze, the hawk glide; I sit at its edge and smell the pine and oak canopies rustle in song; I sit at its edge and caress the brittle grasses bend; I sit at its edge and consider stirring but instead sit still. I don't expect shyness to fade (though I mask it the best I can), I don't expect the naivety of believing people are profoundly good to dissipate (though I have become quite wary), i don't expect to wrangle multiple tasks or roles at once (though I get overwhelmed as I try), I don't expect people to be other than they are (though sometimes it hurts), i don't expect to not laugh again (though I oft cry), i don't expect decay to ebb and slow (though a nice thought), I don't expect to not be grateful (though I get clouded at times), I don't expect to forget (though I know I will).

killing brain cells quickly. first round staining done. next sand (outdoors). stain again. perhaps more sanding. from there on to several coats of polyeurothane. dang and that' not my floor. I just freaking need a desktop upon which to work. my real lap of laptopping really doesn't work as a good long term study plan. i am still a bit old school and like to scatter books about and turn real pages (except when also driving), fold pages, write comments in every possible margin. I cannot do that all from my organic lap top. so my 6 foot beautiful drafting table I inherited/harvested from a friend's granddaddy's storage (a ship designer/builder...like real ships not leisure toys) seriously needs a new top. I started that this afternoon and pee-uuu brain death by staining indoors. I've opened the windows but nasal and brain relief is minimal. dang and I loaned out my real fans to my WASHers.

ok well I also did the easy task of cutting Sheetrock today as well. I contemplated electrical in bathroom. guess previous code didn't require electrical boxes as the wires just come through hole in Sheetrock. I'll check in with my supervisor (dad) tomorrow to see if I can do same or really should put the junk in a box. can already hear him...BOX. well plus I need to daisy chain some additional light fixtures to work off same switch. BOX. naturally I could not just buy a regular over the counter bathroom light bar for above the mirror! dang. but since I've built crazy galvanized light fixtures in living areas and my bed and future furniture are partially built from galvanized plumbing pipe (I harvested=free. same system I used for chandelier system), it seems fitting that bathroom light fixtures should feel similar. so I finally found some outdoor fixture that seem cool to me and in step with nutty other stuff I am doing. oh yes and ordered (not made or harvested) a galvanized ceiling fan for living room. all this to say it is good thing my dad has multiple degrees from MIT(side though: statement elementary school equivalent "my dad can beat up your dad!")cause I sure don't really understand electricity or nuclear powered ocean going vessels. ok. well I won't seek nuclear advise, or computer programming advice...just safe electricalling so I don't burn my house down. tomorrow is fatherly electrical supervision day. YES YES and chain saw lessons. and I do want lessons as once when I was getting my finger sewed up from a mere exacto finger filet wound (common to graphic designers) there were two guys in emergency room at same time and both had bounced their chain saws off their tibialis anterior (shin bone). OUCHY. ramble ramble.

nov 2011. a line but not even a bump of a scar. grose. they made me massage wound. yuk but that kept scar tissue from forming internal so that I could maintain full finger flicking range of motion!
